We have the delightful task of praising the dancer Gene Kelly…in the glamour contest he would surely come out top…for he is, moving or still, the most entrancing sailor one has ever seen. I have seldom seen a Western dancer from whose body such radiance emanates or who possesses such brilliance of expression. (Ballet Mag. Feb. 1946, Beryl de Zoete)
The first thing which Gene communicated to me was joy. It was exactly what I needed in my life at that time, seven years ago, and the wonderful thing is, that I still feel the same joy and exhilaration when watching him dance today.
This is another quote of significance:
He said it all, in every number, without saying a word..He combined technique with feeling. No movement or emotion ever ended but was instead projected far beyond his body, reaching out to touch a star, which he made us believe he could do. (Picture Show Magazine, date unknown)
The joy, love and light reach out to touch our lives also. I celebrate and thank Gene Kelly for fulfiling his great destiny as joybringer.
